The Water Treatment Division operates a Water Plant near Highway 12 (Jamieson Canyon Road) to produce drinking water that meets the highest quality standards set by state and federal regulations. The main source for our water supply is the State Water Project through the North Bay Aqueduct. During the peak irrigation season, we supplement our supply as needed with treated water from the cities of Napa and Vallejo.
There are two treatment processes at the Water Plant: a conventional sedimentation and filtration treatment process that has been in use since 1976, and a second, state-of-the-art membrane filtration process which was added in 2004. Together the two processes produce up to 5.5 million gallons of potable water each day for American Canyon and its broader service area. Crews also maintain pump stations and three water storage tanks. Construction of two more storage tanks will be underway in the next few years.
