Parks & Recreation Department Overview
The Parks & Recreation Department plans and supervises all City-sponsored recreation classes, programs, and special events, and strives to enhance the quality of life in American Canyon.
The Department oversees the operation of the Phillip West Aquatics Center and aquatic programs. In addition, the City's operation of the Community Center, Senior Multi-Use Center, Recreation Center, and all park and recreation facility scheduling and rentals are processed through Parks & Recreation.
Parks & Recreation staff provides support to the Parks and Community Services Commission, and Open Space Advisory Committee, while the Parks and Recreation Director has a variety of duties related to the planning and development of new parks and recreation facilities as well as the improvement of existing parks.
The Department is also responsible for park maintenance and the maintenance of City buildings.
